چکیده
A series of wind tunnel tests were carried out to determine the effect shark scale-based vortex generators (SSVG) on a NACA 0015 symmetrical airfoil’s aerodynamic characteristics. Three different sets SSVG with varying geometrical parameters, such as chord length, amplitude, and wavelength, designed fabricated using 3D printing. The models blended baseline airfoil. experiments performed over test airfoil mounted at various angles attack, ranging from 0° 24° in increments 3°, operating range Re = 2 × 105. results revealed that reduced drag increased maximum coefficient lift (CLmax), thereby enhancing overall performance. offered noteworthy benefits by effectively altering flow causing significant spanwise variation properties. Additionally, attempts made identify optimum chordwise location blend for effective use.

Aerodynamic Optimization of an Airfoil Using Gradient Based Method
Abstract. A gradient based method is presented for optimization of an airfoil configuration. The flow is governed by two dimensional, compressible Euler equations. A finite volume code based on unstructured grid is developed to solve the equations. The procedure is carried out for optimizing an airfoil with initial configuration of NACA 0012. The advantage of this technique over the other gradi...
متن کاملNumerical Study of the Aerodynamic Characteristics of a Plunging Rigid Airfoil with Elastic Trailing-Edge Plate
The fluid-structure coupling process of a plunging rigid airfoil with a thin elastic plate attached at the trailing-edge is simulated numerically by using unsteady potential flow source/vortex panel method and the Euler-Bernoulli beam vibration differential equation. The flow characteristics, the unsteady aerodynamic loads, especially the thrust effects of the plunging motion are computed. The ...

BACKGROUND Unexpected performance degradation occurs in wind turbine blades due to leading edge defect when suffering from continuous impacts with rain drops, hails, insects, or solid particles during its operation life. To assess this issue, this paper numerically investigates the steady and dynamic stall characteristics of an S809 airfoil with various leading edge defects. More leading edge d...
متن کاملAerodynamic Performance Enhancement of a NACA 66-206 Airfoil Using Supersonic Channel Airfoil Design
Supersonic channel airfoil design techniques have been shown to significantly reduce drag in high-speed flows over diamond shaped airfoils by Ruffin and colleagues. The effect of applying these techniques to a NACA 66-206 airfoil is presented. The design domain entails channel heights of 8-16.6% thickness-to-chord and speeds from Mach 1.5-3.0. Numerical simulations show an increase in the lift-...
